Volunteers are the HEART of our event. A happy smile and words of encouragement are essential ingredients!

Roles at each location are outlined below. There may be a variety of roles at your selected location. If possible, your Site Manager will move you around to give you a variety of tasks.

LOCATIONS / SHIFT TIMES - EVENT DAY [Fri 21 September 2018]

  • GOOLWA OVAL (SHUTTLE BUSES/PARKING): 7.45am - 10.15am {This shift is now full}
  • PARSONS BEACH (60K EVENT START): 4.15am - 7.00am {This shift is now full}
  • VICTOR HARBOR (30K START / LUV STOP): 7.30am - 12noon {This shift is now full}
  • VICTOR HARBOR (LUV STOP): 12noon - 6.00pm {This shift is now full}
  • BASHAM BEACH CARPARK (LUV STOP): 10am - 3.30pm {This shift is now full}
  • BASHAM BEACH CARPARK (LUV STOP): 3.30pm - 9.00pm {This shift is now full}
  • GOOLWA SURF CLUB CARPARK (LUV STOP): 5.00pm - 11.00pm {This shift is now full}
  • GOOLWA AMELIA PARK (FINISH LINE): 11.00am - 5.00pm {This shift is now full}
  • GOOLWA AMELIA PARK (FINISH LINE): 5.00pm - 11.00pm {This shift is now full}
  • RSA certified bar staff- GOOLWA AMELIA PARK (FINISH LINE): 2.00pm - 8.00pm {This shift is now full}
  • Massage therapist - Time and location TBC 
  • Podiatrist - Time and location TBC
  • Yoga instructor - Finish line, time TBC
  • Physiotherapist - Time and location TBC

ROLES 

Event Day Site Assistant, rotating roles throughout shift [Fri 21 Sept 2018, along the event route, Fleurieu Peninsula]:

  • Assisting with Bib collection, team changes, bag drop (Goolwa Oval and Victor Harbor only)
  • Set up/pack down of site
  • General site maintenance including but not limited to preparing snacks, maintaining hydration stations, ensuring toilets are stocked, keeping toilets stocked, ensuring site is clean  
  • Cheering and direct teams as they come through
  • Assisting to corrall people into their wave departure groups and assist loading/unloading buses (Parsons Beach, Victor Harbor, Goolwa Oval) 
  • If you select the RSA certified bar staff role, you will be serving alcohol to the trekkers at the finish line. Must provide proof of RSA. 

 

Pre-Event Site Assistant [Thurs 20 Sept 2018, Goolwa]:

  • Assisting with Bib collection (Goolwa Oval) OR
  • Set up of site (Amelia Park)

 

Letterbox Drop [1-16 Sept 2018, along the event route, Fleurieu Peninsula]:

  • Notify residents and businesses along the route (1-2 weeks before event day)
  • Drop flyers in letterboxes or businesses 
  • Areas span between Encounter Bay and Goolwa coastline and you can choose sections suitable to you

 

Seated role: 

If you require a seated role for the duration of your shift, please choose Goolwa Oval or Victor Harbor AM shift as your preference, or if unsuitable, please make a note in the special requirements secton of the registration form and we will accomodate you. 

 

Extra shifts:

If you are able to perform two shifts, we will love you for it! There is an option to select a second shift on the form. 

 

SKILLED VOLUNTEERS:

We are also looking for volunteers to provide massage, physio, podiatry and yoga to our trekkers on event day. We can offer you an opportunity to promote your business in exchange. If you are interested, register online and choose your shift baed on your skill. We will be in touch to discuss specific locations and shift times. Note that you must have your own insurance for this role.

Under 16s cannot participate due to insurance reasons. Ages 16-18 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian volunteer at all times.
